Our family owned and operated company is seeking a Field Surveyor to join our team in Houston, TX.

The Field Surveyor is responsible for conducting on-site measurements, verifying door and hardware specifications, and ensuring that all necessary components align with project requirements before installation. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of construction site operations, door and hardware systems, and the ability to communicate effectively with project managers, contractors, and installation teams.

Job Responsibilities

  • Conduct precise measurements of door openings to ensure accurate ordering and installation.
  • Assess and verify hardware requirements based on architectural plans, specifications, and building codes.
  • Identify potential issues with door frame conditions, wall structures, and other site factors that could affect installation.
  • Communicate findings and discrepancies with project managers, contractors, and internal teams to resolve any concerns before installation.
  • Document all measurements, site conditions, and required modifications for project records.
  • Coordinate with suppliers and warehouse teams to confirm the availability and compatibility of doors and hardware.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and quality standards during site visits.
  • Assist with troubleshooting and problem-solving on installation challenges as needed.

Requirements

  • Previous experience in door installation, hardware specification, or a related construction field.
  • Exceptional ability to read and interpret a tape measure accurately to ensure precise measurements.
  • Strong knowledge of commercial and residential door systems, frames, and hardware applications.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, construction plans, and door schedules.
  • Excellent attention to detail and strong problem-solving skills.
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills to collaborate with different stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple job sites efficiently.
  • Valid drivers license and ability to travel to job sites as required.

 Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with Division 8 (Openings) in construction specifications
  • Knowledge of ADA and fire-rated door requirements.
  • Familiarity with industry-standard hardware brands and components.
